Softball Recap: Leadership Academy Wins Going Away Against Atkins

Leadership Academy won the last time they faced Atkins and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Falcons blew past the Camels 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ashlyn Koerber made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Annabelle Daniels was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Hopkins, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Leadership Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atkins only posted an OBP of .278.

Leadership Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Atkins, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Coming up, Leadership Academy will welcome Carver at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Atkins, they will square off against High Point Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.83 runs per game on average), something the Camels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
