Basketball Recap: Slidell Extends Road Winning Streak to 12

Slidell had won 11 straight road games dating back to last season and James Chaney did his part to make it 12 on Monday. The Slidell Tigers came out on top against the L.W. Higgins Hurricanes by a score of 56-48 thanks in part to Chaney, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 18 points, to go along with seven boards and five steals. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaquan Frazier, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cormelo Howard, who had nine points.

Slidell's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for L.W. Higgins, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slidell will challenge Lutcher at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for L.W. Higgins, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newman will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something L.W. Higgins surely won't give up without a fight.
