Two dominant backs in Noah Moss and JASON TODD JR are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Michael Catholic Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Mobile Christian Leopards at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Michael Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
St. Michael Catholic's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Friday, when they got past Jackson's usually-dominant defense. The Cardinals came out on top against the Aggies by a score of 49-39.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Moss and Ezavier Crowell. Moss had a great game and rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Crowell was balling out in the loss, rushing for 336 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 16.8 yards per carry.

St. Michael Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brayden Smith, Bryce Marston, and Brody Jones picked up one apiece. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times he's played. St. Michael Catholic got some further help from Nick Russo: he forced one fumble and made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mobile Christian). They blew past St. Stanislaus 52-0 last Friday. The Leopards pushed the score to 45-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rock-a-Chaws had no chance of recovering from.
A big part of Mobile Christian's win came down to the chemistry between ISRAEL BENARD and his top target AIDEN GASTON. BENARD threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes while GASTON picked up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 88 receiving yards gave GASTON a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Mobile Christian proved: they limited St. Stanislaus to a paltry 0.3 yards per carry. The Leopards' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.1.
St. Michael Catholic pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for Mobile Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. St. Michael Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mobile Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 210.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
St. Michael Catholic beat Mobile Christian 45-35 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Leopards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
