Softball Recap: Lakeland Has No Trouble Against Sandpoint

Lakeland barely beat Sandpoint the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bulldogs on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Lakeland got a massive performance out of Kiersten Drake, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Drake has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raygen Dutton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Drake wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Lakeland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. The Hawks are 4-2 when they post two or more home runs.

The victory got Lakeland back to even at 5-5. As for Sandpoint, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lakeland will host Timberlake at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sandpoint, they will face off against Bonners Ferry at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
