On Friday, Burlington were out to avenge their 13-20 defeat to Davenport West from the last time they squared off against one another, but they had no such luck. Burlington and Davenport West were almost perfectly matched up, but Burlington suffered an agonizing 27-28 defeat. Things were expected to be close, but in this case the state rankings mixed up the winning team.
The loss dropped Burlington's record to 2-5. The victory bumped Davenport West's record up to 2-5.
Next week Burlington take on Washington at 7:30 PM. Davenport West will be playing at home against Bettendorf at at 7:30 PM. Bettendorf have averaged 38.6 points over the course of their past three games, so Davenport West might be in for a challenge.
