The Teaneck Highwaymen will head out to face off against the Bergen Tech Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Teaneck has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 11th.
Pascack Valley hit Teaneck with a five-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Highwaymen took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians.
Deyton Walcott made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bergen Tech was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Eastside 9-3. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Joe D'Amico spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dylan Huber was excellent, going 1-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Cicoria, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Bergen Tech hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside struck out nine times.
Bergen Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Teaneck, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Teaneck has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bergen Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Teaneck got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Bergen Tech by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highwaymen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
