The Nebraska Lutheran Knights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Giltner 41-12 at home. Given Nebraska Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Giltner is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tenley Williamson, who scored 19 points along with five steals. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Hueske, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Giltner's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tracy Wiles, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wiles also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Giltner struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Nebraska Lutheran pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Giltner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Nebraska Lutheran will head out on the road to face off against Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Exeter-Milligan/Friend is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Giltner will be home for the holidays to greet High Plains at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully High Plains focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Tuesday.
