The Deubrook Dolphins's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Chester Flyers at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Deubrook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Deubrook was beaten by Madison 73-41. While losing is never fun, Deubrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Madison is ranked 33rd).
Deubrook's loss came about despite a quality game from Jake Jorenby, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Gass, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Chester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against McCook Central/Montrose as Chester made off with a 74-51 win. Chester's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Deubrook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Chester, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Deubrook strolled past Chester when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 54-39. Does Deubrook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chester turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
