The WestSide Renegades will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Tug Valley Panthers at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (WestSide has four straight wins, Tug Valley has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
WestSide only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 23-point they dealt Shady Spring on Thursday. WestSide put the hurt on Shady Spring with a sharp 57-34 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win WestSide has posted yet this season.
Tug Valley suffered their biggest loss since December 22, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by St. Joseph Central on the road and fell 61-23. While losing is never fun, Tug Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while St. Joseph Central is ranked 35th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bailee Hall, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
WestSide's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5. As for Tug Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Everything came up roses for WestSide against Tug Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 58-26 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Hall, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and six steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will WestSide still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
