Miramonte hasn't had much luck against Las Lomas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Matadors will face off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Miramonte knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Las Lomas likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Miramonte got the win against Concord by a conclusive 15-3. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Abby Warren was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Miramonte let Talia Kardon and Sydney Saben run wild. Kardon went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Saben went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Kardon has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Haynes, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Miramonte hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Las Lomas suffered their closest defeat since March 12th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Berean Christian by a score of 7-5.
Lucy Bernhardt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Lexie Kou was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Paige Loeliger was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Miramonte has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Las Lomas, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1-1 and their overall record down to 13-8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Miramonte has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Las Lomas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Miramonte might still be hurting after the 18-7 defeat they got from Las Lomas in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Matadors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
