The St. Luke's Storm will challenge the Greens Farms Academy Dragons at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Luke's knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Greens Farms Academy likes a good challenge.
On Monday, St. Luke's made easy work of Greenwich Country Day and carried off an 18-1 victory. Considering the Storm have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucia Biasotti made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Biasotti was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, St. Luke's got a massive performance out of Makena Woodfork, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Woodfork has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Ellie Fatsi, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
St. Luke's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwich Country Day only posted a batting average of .143.
Meanwhile, while it was Greens Farms Academy who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was King who put up more. The Dragons fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-2.
Devin Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Izzy Kittredge made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Greens Farms Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Luke's, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
St. Luke's suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Greens Farms Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
