The Wardlaw Academy Patriots were the 36-32 winner over the Richard Winn Academy Eagles when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Wardlaw Academy took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richard Winn Academy on Monday.
Richard Winn Academy was led to victory by Abby Lewis and Meagan Brigman. Lewis scored 19 points along with three steals, while Brigman almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Young, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Wardlaw Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Richard Winn Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Wardlaw Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Newberry Academy at 3:30 p.m. on February 6th. Newberry Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Richard Winn Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Our Lady of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Richard Winn Academy is facing Our Lady of the Rosary at the right time seeing as Our Lady of the Rosary is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
