The Park View Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Woodgrove at home and fell 77-47. While losing is never fun, Park View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Woodgrove is ranked 78th).
Despite the defeat, Park View had strong showings from Messiah Dixon, who scored 18 points, and Jonathan Nicola, who scored 18 points.
Among those leading the charge was Joey Marcheschi, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hill, who scored 13 points.
Park View has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Woodgrove, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Park View will take on Trinity at Meadow View at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Trinity at Meadow View is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Woodgrove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Broad Run at 7:15 p.m.
