It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Dunedin Falcons can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Gladiators on the road and fell 59-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dunedin in their matchups with Gibbs: they've now lost nine in a row.
Dunedin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Marchido, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals. Marchido also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Patterson, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Anaya Johnson went supernova for Gibbs, scoring 18 points. It was the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Butler, who scored 11 points.
Dunedin's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Gibbs, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Dunedin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gibbs, they will face off against Academy of the Holy Names at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gibbs is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
