On Saturday, the Fernley Vaqueros faced the Shadow Ridge Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fernley enjoyed a cozy 63-45 victory over Shadow Ridge. Fernley's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Fernley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaelece Wasson led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jasmyne Torres, who scored 13 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
Fernley's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Shadow Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Legacy the next time they take the court. Fernley will head out to face Legacy at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Shadow Ridge will head out to face them at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
