The Palmetto Ridge Bears put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 102-84 win over Riverdale. Palmetto Ridge's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Sean Gomez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 36 points along with five rebounds. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Calven Charles was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Destin Bess, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jamar Underwood, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Palmetto Ridge pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Palmetto Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Port Charlotte at 3:40 p.m. on December 16th. Port Charlotte will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Palmetto Ridge is ranked 16th). Riverdale will be home for the holidays to greet Island Coast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Island Coast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday.
