The Briggsdale Falcons will challenge the Prairie Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Briggsdale will be strutting in after a win while Prairie will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Briggsdale blew past Weldon Valley, posting a 57-27 victory at home. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Briggsdale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaeden Gebauer, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Gebauer got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 87 yards. Another passer making a difference was Scot Francis, who threw for 238 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Briggsdale was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 555 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weldon Valley only gained 286.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-15, which was the final score in Prairie's tilt against Arickaree on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Although Prairie took the loss, they still got scores from Wyatt Walker and Lane Schock.
Prairie wouldn't let Arickaree keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Beau Carlson, Walker, and Schock picked up one apiece. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.
Briggsdale pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
