Longview put the hurt on Tyler with a sharp 34-12 victory on Friday. Longview might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six contests by 21 points or more this season.
Longview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Tatum out in front who rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Tatum really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvin Washington, who gained 223 total yards and three touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Tyler lost, one person who can't be blamed is Derrick Mcfall. Despite the final result, he gained 100 total yards and a touchdown.
Longview's victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.82 points. As for Tyler, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Longview will head out on the road to face off against West Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mesquite is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Tyler, they will be playing at home against Forney on Friday. Forney presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tyler in Texas (Forney is ranked 21st, while Tyler is ranked 100th).
