The Port St. Lucie Jaguars''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Westwood on the road and fell 41-8. Port St. Lucie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westwood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Joseph "EJ" Weathers, who threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns. Westwood also got a significant boost from Braylon Vincent, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 97 yards.
Westwood's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Ricardo Guthrie and Chris Pierre who racked up six sacks between them.
Port St. Lucie's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.6 points per game. As for Westwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port St. Lucie will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Westwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
