Calais is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They are taking a road trip to square off against the George Stevens Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Calais not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2025 (when they won 22-0). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Jonesport-Beals a 14-0 shutout. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Noah White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). White was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Calais got a massive performance out of Theo Mitchell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Mitchell a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Isaac Downing, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Calais always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jonesport-Beals only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, George Stevens Academy earned a 6-3 win over Sumner on Friday.
Like Calais, George Stevens Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Wyatt Young. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Young was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Sullivan, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Skyler Carter was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
George Stevens Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Calais, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Calais suffered a grim 22-5 defeat to George Stevens Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
