Shenandoah unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Bluffton Tigers by a score of 29-27 on Friday.
Despite the loss, Shenandoah still got an impressive performance from Jarrett Helman, who threw for 252 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 75 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Helman's aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Blayne Stevens, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Bluffton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Streveler, who picked up 93 receiving yards and two TDs. That's the most receiving yards Streveler has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah Bertsch, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Coming up, Shenandoah will head out on the road to face off against South Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bluffton, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Manchester at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
