High Plains was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Shelby 83-20. The Storm came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
High Plains made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 226 from 296. The improvement was the result of 83-20 victory over the Huskies last week.
Nebraska Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Keagan Jewell threw for 64 and one touchdown and Derek Rose had 71 yards receiving. On the ground Carson Huenefeld chipped in 110 yards. Logan Faeh helped Nebraska Christian's passing attack out by catching two balls for 11 yards.
High Plains' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Storm feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tanner Fate has thrown for 536 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Logan Fleming has 13 catches for 216 yards. Fate also leads the league in rushing with 548 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place High Plains takes on second place Cross County. Last week, Greg Wood's team bested Shelby, while Cross County.
