Basketball Recap: Freeman Skates Past Asotin with Ease

Freeman won the last time they faced Asotin and things went their way on Saturday too. The Freeman Scotties took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-8 win over the Asotin Panthers. The game marked the Scotties' most dominant victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freeman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylee Russell, who went 9 of 14 on her way to 19 points. Russell is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Finley Pecht, who went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points and four steals.

Freeman was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Freeman and bumps their season record up to 14-4. As for Asotin, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Freeman will venture away from home to face off against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Freeman a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Asotin, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Asotin Panthers duke it out with the Upper Columbia Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
