The Jackson Timberwolves will challenge the Stanwood Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jackson comes in on three and Stanwood on nine.
On Friday, Jackson needed a bit of extra time to put away Monroe. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Bearcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted since April 23, 2024.

Austin Halvorson
04/04/25 vs Monroe | 5 |
05/02/24 vs Woodinville | 1 |
04/23/24 @ Lake Stevens | 4 |
04/16/24 @ Glacier Peak | 6 |
Austin Halvorson and Quinten Johns made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Halvorson tossed 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Johns pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Halvorson posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Halvorson scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Johns scored a run while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Bergman, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Stanwood beat Port Angeles 6-1 on Saturday.
Like Jackson, Stanwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Gehrman. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Gehrman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Stanwood pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jackson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stanwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jackson beat Stanwood 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
