The Thunderbird Titans waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 66-56 win over Greenway. Given Thunderbird's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Greenway is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thunderbird's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Calcaterra, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aidan Rampley, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Thunderbird's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Greenway, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.
Thunderbird and Shadow Mountain will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Shadow Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. As for Greenway, they will play host again and welcome Moon Valley, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moon Valley and Greenway are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
