The Verrado Vipers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Canyon View 35-30. Verrado was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Canyon View apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Despite the loss, Verrado still got an impressive performance from Jhayden Frye, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Josh Nascimento, who gained 69 total yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Beau Devens, who threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. Jermaine Patterson was another key contributor, picking up 210 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Verrado's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Canyon View, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Verrado will head out on the road to face off against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Desert Edge's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Verrado has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Canyon View will take on Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Sunrise Mountain is ranked 46th, while Canyon View is ranked 44th).
