The Rampart Rams will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Widefield Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Rampart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
Last Friday, Rampart came up short against The Classical Academy and fell 50-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rampart has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Elias Bishop, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Melecio, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Widefield also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Pueblo Central by a score of 58-48. While losing is never fun, Widefield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Pueblo Central is ranked 92nd).
Rampart bumped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for Widefield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
Everything went Rampart's way against Widefield in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as Rampart made off with a 66-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rampart since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
