The Campo Verde Coyotes stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Mountain Pointe at home to the tune of 62-29. Given Campo Verde's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kelsey Watts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Campo Verde's points. Kdynce Parks was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Campo Verde pushed their record up to 14-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Mountain Pointe, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Campo Verde will take on Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Casteel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Thursday. As for Mountain Pointe, Mountain Pointe and Combs will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Combs is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
