Academy of International Studies proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past Academy of Aerospace and Engineering 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dragons have posted since September 27, 2024.
Academy of International Studies had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 16-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-6.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academy of International Studies to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lisa Weinberg, who had ten aces and seven digs. Weinberg is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Angie Zuluaga- Gonzalez, who had 23 digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Academy of International Studies was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 31 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 17 aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Weaver came up short against New Britain on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Beavers have struggled against the Golden Hurricanes recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 22-25, 25-23, 25-13.
Academy of International Studies' win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Weaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Academy of International Studies might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Weaver when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
