Softball Recap: Pontiac Wins Going Away Against Paxton-Buckley-Loda

Pontiac came out on top against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Indians blew past the Panthers 10-0. Considering the Indians have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Elena Krause made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Payton Rogers looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Tessa Collins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Vogt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pontiac hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Pontiac has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they dropped their record down to 3-20 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Pontiac has already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Edwardsville on the 9th. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-4 victory against St. Thomas More on the 12th.
