The Windsor Wizards came tearing into Wednesday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 73-60 win over Silver Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Windsor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madden Smiley out in front who scored 20 points along with six assists. Smiley hasn't dropped below 19 points for four straight games. Tadese Keyworth was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Wells Katechis and Gabe Selby certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Katechis shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Selby scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Katechis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Mires, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Windsor is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Silver Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-4.
Windsor will head out on the road to square off against Centaurus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windsor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Centaurus likes a good challenge. As for Silver Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against Greeley Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Silver Creek is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Colorado (they are ranked 27th, while Greeley Central is ranked 155th).
