The Cathedral Prep Crusaders were the 61-33 winner over the Northeast Vikings when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Cathedral Prep took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northeast on Saturday. Cathedral Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Darrius Gaeta continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northeast, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gaeta has scored at least 25% of Northeast's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Freeman, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Cathedral Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Northeast, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cathedral Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bishop Verot at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Northeast, they will be playing at home against Boys' Latin Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
