Basketball Recap: Wauneta-Palisade Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Wauneta-Palisade had lost four straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Izzy Stehno didn't let it get to five. The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over the Perkins County Plainsmen on Friday thanks in part to Stehno, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Kamryn Fanning, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Perkins County lost, don't look at Libby Cole. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jacqueline Gloy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Wauneta-Palisade's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Perkins County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Wauneta-Palisade has already played their next game, a 35-31 defeat against Garden County on the 18th. As for Perkins County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on January 28th.
