The Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They were the victim of a rough 52-29 loss at the hands of Fitzgerald.
Despite the loss, Mt. Clemens still got an impressive performance from Le'ila Sears, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Laia Richardson, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Fitzgerald was led to victory by Kaylynn Millander and Janiya McWilliams. Millander scored 18 points along with 8 steals and 6 rebounds, while McWilliams scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Asia Bowman was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Mt. Clemens' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Fitzgerald, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Mt. Clemens will head out on the road to face off against Royal Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fitzgerald, they will be playing in front of their home fans against L'Anse Creuse at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
