Foundation Academy is a perfect 4-0 against Mount Dora since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Foundation Academy Lions will be playing at home against the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. Foundation Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Mount Dora will be up against a hot Foundation Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Foundation Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Berkeley Prep 7-5.
Reagan Schirmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Kamryn Arico was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Riley Winters was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
Foundation Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora came up short against Tavares on Tuesday and fell 7-2. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mount Dora saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TAKIYAH WHITE, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Mount Dora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Foundation Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Mount Dora's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Foundation Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Foundation Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Mount Dora will need to find a way to close that gap.
