Aquinas has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Barberton Magics at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Wednesday, Aquinas suffered a rough 55-34 defeat at the hands of John F. Kennedy Catholic. While losing is never fun, Aquinas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while John F. Kennedy Catholic is ranked 122nd).
Aquinas' defeat came about despite a quality game from Paris Everett, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Everett is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Janya Jeter, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Barberton took a serious blow against Aurora on Friday, falling 57-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Barberton has scored all season.
Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Barberton, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Aquinas, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-29 loss to Barberton in their previous matchup back in February. Can Aquinas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
