The Elk Grove Thundering Herd were the 41-38 winner over the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Elk Grove took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cosumnes Oaks on Friday. Elk Grove has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Elk Grove saw an underclassman step up: Noah Hargrave scored 22 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hargrave has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Acido, who scored 11 points along with four blocks.
Elk Grove bumped their record down to 8-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Elk Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elk Grove in California (Franklin is ranked 73rd, while Elk Grove is ranked 536th). Cosumnes Oaks won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Edison at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. Edison is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
