The Reed Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the McQueen Lancers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Reed's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
On Tuesday, Reed made easy work of Reno and carried off a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 15 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Tiare Kanae, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassandra Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Reed always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reno only posted an OBP of .409.
Meanwhile, McQueen faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lancers fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 10-9. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Vanessa Bein made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Fanene, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Reed has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for McQueen, their loss dropped their record down to 15-13.
McQueen's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Reed has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for McQueen, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Reed's sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Reed skirted past McQueen 4-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
