Make it eight blowout wins for The Woodlands Christian Academy Warriors this season. They breezed by Kelly Catholic on the road to the tune of 68-40. Given The Woodlands Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Kelly Catholic is ranked 1123rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gates Jenkins, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Munro Nichols was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Kelly Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are 1-4 when they can't control their own glass like that.
The Woodlands Christian Academy's victory was their 14th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. As for Kelly Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-20.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Woodlands Christian Academy will take on Frassati Catholic at TBD on Friday. Kelly Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. John XXIII at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
