The Milan Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the South Shelby Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Milan has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
Milan pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of South Harrison by a score of 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Milan has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ethan Bennett, who scored 16 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Jared Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, South Shelby was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 51-46 to Schuyler County.
Milan bumped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for South Shelby, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Milan skirted past South Shelby 44-41 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
