Volleyball Recap: Manitowoc Lincoln Gets the Win

Manitowoc Lincoln posted their closest win since August 30th on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Brookfield Central Lancers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Ships also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.

Abby Weidmayer paced Manitowoc Lincoln's offense, picking up ten kills. Weidmayer got some help from Cora Foster and her ten assists. Weidmayer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Rachel Hoerig and Carolyn Gauntt certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Hoerig had five digs and three aces, while Gauntt had three digs and two aces. Gauntt is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The win got Manitowoc Lincoln back to even at 13-13. As for Brookfield Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Manitowoc Lincoln has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Catholic Memorial on the 27th. As for Brookfield Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Appleton North on the 27th.
