Elysian Fields is 2-8 against Beckville since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. Elysian Fields is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Elysian Fields couldn't beat Union Grove on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4.
Taylor Youngblood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Kirsten Commander was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Beckville entered their tilt with Waskom on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Kaitlyn Mauritzen and Landrie Dennard did most of the damage at the plate: Mauritzen went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Dennard went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Dennard is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalee Cameron, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Beckville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in 11 consecutive matchups.
Beckville's win bumped their record up to 18-3-1. As for Elysian Fields, they now have a losing record of 12-13-1.
Elysian Fields suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Beckville in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
