Fuquay - Varina's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Eastern Alamance's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Bengals put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Paige Alexander was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Alexander was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Julie Selig was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaycie Old, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fuquay - Varina kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Southeast Raleigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against Hillside, falling 19-4. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Knael Wright-Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Southeast Raleigh's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Fuquay - Varina, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fuquay - Varina has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Southeast Raleigh struggles in that department as they've averaged .497. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
