If the Timpanogos Timberwolves were riding high off their 77-51 takedown of the Uintah Utes last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Timpanogos was the victim of a tough 67-41 loss at the hands of Layton Christian Academy on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Timpanogos has scored all season.
Timpanogos' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Steven LaPray, who scored 11 points, and Jaxen Mccuistion who scored seven points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Livingston, who scored two points along with two steals.
Alan Gballou was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks for Layton Christian Academy. Gballou hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Otavio Armani, who scored seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Timpanogos has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Layton Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timpanogos will take on Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Provo is ranked 37th, while Timpanogos is ranked 45th). As for Layton Christian Academy, they will play host again and welcome Payson, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
