Dieterich is 0-10 against Neoga since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Dieterich Movin Maroons on the road again and play against the Neoga Indians at 2:30 p.m. on January 15th. One thing working in Dieterich's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Dieterich fought the good fight in their overtime game against Shelbyville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 63-60. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dieterich came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Shelbyville is ranked 544th).
The losing side was boosted by Miley Britton, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Westendorf, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Vandalia scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, Neoga still came out on top. Neoga secured a 71-65 W over Vandalia. The win was just what Neoga needed coming off of a 81-55 loss in their prior match.
Dieterich's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Neoga, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Dieterich ended up a good deal behind Neoga when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 51-37. Can Dieterich avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
