Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Centennial Hawks proved on Thursday. They strolled past Silver with points to spare, taking the game 42-24. That's two games straight that Centennial has won by exactly 18 points.
It was another big night for Audi Torrez, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Miller, who scored three points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Fighting Colts players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylianna Castillo, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Castillo hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Laila Lopez, who scored five points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Silver, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Centennial will head out on the road to face off against Carlsbad at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Carlsbad is ranked 28th, while Centennial is ranked 23rd). As for Silver, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Goddard at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Goddard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
