Baseball Recap: Nashoba Valley Tech Wins Going Away Against Notre Dame Cristo Rey

Nashoba Valley Tech barely beat Notre Dame Cristo Rey the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Panthers 25-1 on Thursday. That looming 25-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Micah Wells was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Wells was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Nashoba Valley Tech is undefeated when Wells posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nashoba Valley Tech got a massive performance out of Griffen Casey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Casey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Elijah Galvin was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Nashoba Valley Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Nashoba Valley Tech's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame Cristo Rey, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
