The Boca Raton Christian Blazers will head out on the road to challenge the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Boca Raton Christian came up short against Cambridge Christian and fell 45-36. The Blazers gained 174 more yards on the day, but it was the Lancers that made the best use of them.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Christian Anderson, who picked up 279 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Joey Weber was another key signal caller, throwing for 442 yards and four TDs.
Meanwhile, Central Florida Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Cornerstone Charter Academy by a score of 32-24.
Boca Raton Christian better focus on containing Jahmari Hammonds and Gavin Pritzkau as the pair were huge in Central Florida Christian Academy's win. Hammonds rushed for 215 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, while Pritzkau threw for 285 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hammonds also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Davy Murphy got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Central Florida Christian Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Cornerstone Charter Academy to a completion percentage of just 44.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Hammonds, Jondell Cennett, Murphy, and Deshaun Jones, who each logged one passes deflected. Central Florida Christian Academy hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.57 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Central Florida Christian Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nyshaun Drye, Da'Vion Monroe, and Hammonds picked up one apiece. Hammonds is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 140 every time he's taken the field this season.
Central Florida Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Boca Raton Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
