Basketball Recap: Deshaun Nicholson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Charlotte Elite Academy over Lake Norman Christian

After flying high against Elevation Prep Academy back in December of 2024, Charlotte Elite Academy came back down to earth. The Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers fell to the Lake Norman Christian Lions 67-62.

Several Soldiers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deshaun Nicholson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Nicholson is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game. Antoine Boone was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine blocks.

Even though they lost, Charlotte Elite Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Charlotte Elite Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Lake Norman Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Elite Academy will square off against Winston Salem Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Winston Salem Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Lake Norman Christian, they will challenge Queen City Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Queen City Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.
