The Lone Peak Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Corner Canyon Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Lone Peak faced Mountain Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lone Peak walked away with a 14-3 win over Mountain Ridge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lone Peak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Peak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Blake, who threw for 217 yards and a touchdown. Lone Peak also got help from Trey Robinson who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.
Lone Peak's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Meanwhile, Corner Canyon had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.1 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over Layton at home. Considering Corner Canyon has won nine games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Isaac Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 333 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 81 yards on only seven carries. Brayden Eyre also helped out as he racked up 136 receiving yards.
Lone Peak's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Corner Canyon, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-1.
Lone Peak ended up a good deal behind Corner Canyon in their previous meeting back in August, losing 51-36. Can Lone Peak avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
